This role is home based however due to the nature of the role, you will need to be based in Bristol.

Key Responsibilities

What will the role involve?

  • You will be living and breathing news, current affairs and real life stories

  • You will know the power of words, pictures, video and social media and understand how to use them to maximum effect

  • You are bold and confident, comfortable meeting people face to face and can develop a strong contacts book

  • You will have an instinct for a good story, bring in your own exclusives and set the day's news agenda

  • You will turn your hand to multiple styles - from hard news investigations to features and profile pieces

  • You will know what readers want, and know how to find, develop and create the kind of content that's relevant to our ever-growing audience

  • This role includes weekend working, this will typically involve 1 weekend in every 4

The Ideal Candidate

Who are we looking for?

  • NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree and knowledge of media law

  • Strong digital publishing skills with advanced social media skills

  • A passion for digital storytelling and excellent communication skills

  • Sound knowledge of IPSO guidelines

  • A driving licence
